The Rogers Royals made 11 errors in a doubleheader but a base-loaded triple by Maddie Anderson helped them salvage a split with Buffalo, each game ending 6-5, on Thursday.

The Royals (4-4 conference, 7-6 overall) will host STMA on Monday.

The Royals had more errors (seven) than hits (five) in the defeat. Emma Swanson gave up nine hits and one walk, with two of the six runs unearned. Emily Hanford had a hit and two RBI.

Bailey Braatz pitched 4 1/3 innings (three unearned runs) for the win, with Madison DeMarais working the last  2 2/3. Varner had a single, double and RBI.

Maddie Anderson came up with base loaded and her team down 5-2 in the last of the seventh. She socked a triple over the right fielder to tie the score. Buffalo intentionally walked two batters and it backfired as DeMarais walked Maddie Mikolich to force home the game-winner.

Anderson was 2-for-4, Olivia Olson 2-for-4, Elli Anderson 2-for-3 (RBI) and Katelyn Kemmetmueller 1-for-3 (RBI).

Kemmetmueller pitched the win, allowing five hits and two walks, striking out four, with four of the five runs unearned. Braatz pitched 6 1/3 for Buffalo before DeMarais tried to quell the rally in the seventh.

Ashley Pool fired a one-hitter and Gabby Antolak knocked in two runs as the Zimmerman Thunder pulled out a 4-2 win over the Rogers Royals on Wednesday in Rogers.

Zimmerman improved to 8-1 and Rogers fell to 6-5 as Pool won a duel of hard-throwing freshmen. Pool walked seven but gave up just a single to Savannah Seiter and struck out five. Rogers’ Katelyn Kemmetmueller had a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Even though Pool had seven walks and Kemmetmueller just two, the latter’s hurt her more. She walked two and hit another batter in the first inning to load the bases. Two runners scored, on an Antolak ground out, and a double steal.

Later, Antolak added an RBI double and Morgan Feldick had a single for the two safeties against Kemmetmueller.
