Maple Grove edges Osseo in softball

Maple Grove broke open a close game with three runs in the top of the seventh to grab a 7-4 win over Osseo Friday, May 10.

The game matched two top young pitchers in the conference in Maple Grove’s Sydney Smith and Osseo’s Courtney Calkins. Smith was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts. Calkins had a busy night at the plate as she had three hits and drove in four runs.

The Crimson stayed unbeaten in the conference as they stay in first place with an 8-0 record. Maple Grove is 14-1 overall and ranked second in the state. Osseo is in fifth place at 5-4.
