The Maple Grove and Osseo Libraries will offer several upcoming events scheduled this May.
The Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main Street N., will offer:
“Teen Anime Club,” Saturday, May 4, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. — For teens. Watch anime, discuss manga and share artwork. Something different every time. Sponsored by Friends of the Maple Grove Library.
“Spice & Slice of Asian America: American Bamboo,” Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m. — Rick Shiomi’s play offers poignant and comic insights into the Asian American experience and the struggles faced by Asian American immigrants. It’s a commentary on race, culture and identity, incorporating Japanese and Vietnamese stories and Bollywood-style dances. This project is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Presented in collaboration with Mu Performing Arts.
The Osseo Library, 415 Central Avenue, will offer “First Pages for Adults: Creative Writing Sampler,” Monday, May 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. — Not sure if you’re a poet, a novelist or a memoirist? Come and sample poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction by exploring craft techniques common to all three. Participants will also have a chance to experiment with each through creative writing exercises. See related materials for further information. Find more by searching the library catalog or Ask Us.
