Champlin Park High School will present “Little Shop of Horrors” opening Friday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. The spring musical is being staged in place of the school’s annual Ovation event. “Little Shop of Horrors” is a comedy horror rock musical that follows the story of a hapless and somewhat nerdy floral shop employee, Seymour, who raises a plant that turns out to feed on human blood and flesh.
It starts off innocently enough as Seymour’s success in growing the plant garners the florist shop and himself notoriety and even the chance at love with the down on her luck Audrey, whom he “rescues” from an abusive relationship with a sadistic dentist. However, things begin to spiral out of control as Seymour’s plant demands more and more.
“Little Shop of Horrors” is chock-full of catchy tunes, lively dance numbers and both funny and tender moments. This is the final production for the CPHS theatre department this year.
