It’s spring in Medina, and that means it’s time for the Hamel Lions Club to open its annual spring-summer-fall Sunday flea market in the Medina Entertainment Parking lot (500 Highway 55).
With a few exceptions (May 12 and 19, Aug. 11), the market will be open for business Sundays through October from 6 a.m. to noon. Vendors may set up earlier. There is no admission for shoppers; vendors will pay a nominal per-space fee. Space is available on a “first-come-first choice” basis.
The wares are varied and include everything from collectibles, plants and vegetables, jewelry and electronics to, well, winter outerwear (socks and fur coats), which might actually come in handy. The beginning and end of the outdoor selling season can be difficult to predict, but coffee, cocoa, pizza, brats and a wide variety of hot food (as well as cold) will be on sale at the Lions food trailer.
This is an area tradition, and one of the most well stocked and shopped markets of its kind. Proceeds are used by the Hamel Lions to fund a number of local needs and programs. For more information on the flea market or the Hamel Lions Club, go to www.hamellions.org.
