Their were eight dance studio across the metro area who participated in an event called “Dancing to make a difference.” Studios from Woodbury to New Prague to Rogers had dancers dancing to different types of music while raising money for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. Three studios right here in Maple Grove — Genesis Dance Co, KDI and Escalate Dance — were a part of this years event. Each dancer gathered pledges from friends and family and then while wearing different colored ribbons to honor those fighting or who has lost their fight to cancer, danced to show their support. One dancer said while dancing “that she felt good knowing she was making a difference in someone’s life just by doing what she loves to do – dancing.” The event was a success doubling the amount raised last year to over $14,000 for a great cause. The dancers are already excited about next year’s event and how much more they can raise. For more information and photos of the event go to randyshavercancerfund.org.
