ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed bids will be received by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013, opened and tabulated by the Public Works Director at 10:00 a.m. and considered by the City Council at its regular meeting on May 14, 2013 for the following:
¾” Class 2 Limestone
1 ½” Clear Limestone
½” Washed Ice Material
1” Class 5 Limestone
Winter Washed Sand
Class 5 Recycled Conbit
Class 5 gravel
Bids shall state the price per ton at the quarry, price per ton delivered and placed on City roads, and price per ton delivered to the City and stockpiled. Bids will also be accepted for hauling only.
Bid security in the amount of 5% for 6000 tons of Class 2 Limestone must accompany each bid. Bid security will not be required for all other products.
All bids shall be addressed to the Public Works Director, City of Independence, 1920 County Road 90, Independence, MN 55359, sealed and marked “ROAD MATERIALS.” No faxes will be accepted. A Certificate of Insurance is to be submitted at the time the bid is submitted.
The City of Independence reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any information herein.

THE MEDINA PLANNING COMMISSION WILL HOLD THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC HEARINGS STARTING AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 2052 COUNTY ROAD 24 ON: Tuesday, May 14, 2013.
1. Public Hearing – Randy Cole & Sandra Fenske – 2959 Lakeshore Avenue – Request for a Variance to the Setback Requirements from the Ordinary High Water Line of Lake Independence for an addition and deck onto their home (PID 18-118-23-23-0022).
2. Public Hearing – Ordinance Amendment to Chapter 8 of the Medina City Code relating to required street widths.
3. Continued Public Hearing – Thomas T. Morrison – 1525 Hunter Drive – A Lot Subdivision to split one existing Lot into Two Lots and a Variance from minimum Road Width requirements (PID 25-118-23-22-0005).
4. Continued Public Hearing – Ordinance Amendment to Chapter 8 of the Medina City Code related to flag lots, lot frontage, driveway regulations, minimum street grades, and the use of public easements and rights-of-way.

LEGAL NOTICE
CITY OF INDEPENDENCE
The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing in the Council Chambers at 1920 County Road 90 on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. to review the following requests:
1. A + D Properties, LLC (Applicant) and Donald Baird (Owner) request that the City consider the following actions for the property located at 2076 County Road 90, Independence, MN (PID No. 23-118-24-23-0001):
a. A variance from the side yard setback to construct a commercial building closer than 100 feet from the Agriculture zoning district.
b. Site plan approval for a new commercial building on the subject property.
2. Todd and Laurie Zaugg, owners of the property located at 5585 Lake Sarah Heights Drive (PID NO. 02-118-24-11-0015), are requesting the following action from the City:
a. A conditional use permit to allow a Non-rental Guest Apartment on the subject property.
3. A proposed text amendment to the City of Independence Ordinances as follows:
• Chapter 5, Section 530, consideration to amend the total square footage permitted for detached agricultural storage buildings, barns, or other structures, accessory to an existing single family dwelling.
The items highlighted above may have a direct or indirect effect on your property. All persons wishing to be heard with reference to these applications will be given the opportunity at this meeting.
