Production at Yellow Tree Theatre
NOW TO MAY 5 — Yellow Tree Theatre, 320 Fifth Ave. S.E. in Osseo, will host the world premiere of a rockin’ new musical, “Stay Tuned,” with an original score by acclaimed local singer/songwriter, Blake Thomas. “Stay Tuned” follows Rusty, Scotty & Emma, the heart and soul of The Emerald Coffee Radio Hour. As the show celebrates its 60th anniversary its legendary host, Bob, passes away leaving his son, Gordon, holding the reigns. The old and the new collide head-on when Gordon hires pop-media-personality, Ashabell Baker, to take over as host. Rusty and the crew struggle as they try to find balance between preserving tradition and moving toward the future in this touching, often hysterical, new musical. Performances run from April 5 to May 5 on Wednesdays to Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $17 to 23 and can be purchased by calling the Yellow Tree box office at 763-493-8733 or online at yellowtreetheatre.com.
Child care unionization discussion
APRIL 25 — Should the Minnesota Legislature unionize self-employed family child care providers? A bill that would authorize such action is currently making its way through the process at the Capitol in St. Paul. The child care unionization effort is strongly supported by Democrats, who currently control all levels of state government in Minnesota. The Senate District 34 Republican Party — which includes the communities of Maple Grove, Rogers, Dayton and Osseo — is hosting a discussion on this legislation led by John Rouleau Thursday, April 25, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Maple Grove Government Center, 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway. Rouleau is the executive director of Minnesota Majority, a non-partisan, grass-roots advocacy organization which is leading the effort to defeat the child care unionization bill. All citizens, regardless of political affiliation, are invited to attend the discussion. Pizza will be served.
