The seven-team Delano Invitational boys and girls track and field meet is set for 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25, with a rain/snow makeup date at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27.

Teams entered include Watertown-Mayer, Mayer Lutheran, St. Michael-Albertville, St. Peter and Holy Family Catholic.

Delano heads to Orono Monday, April 29 for a meet including Hutchinson and Holy Family. The STMA Invitational is Thursday, May 2.

“We have been doing our best to keep in shape without having meet competition,” said boys track coach Mitch Rue. “The athletes have had a great attitude through all the adversity we have faced this spring that is beyond our control. Once the weather clears, the excitement will be high and they will be ready to go.”

In other action, Delano softball had the first 11 games cancelled. The season may get going at the Rochester Lourdes tournament, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27.

“Starting Saturday, weather permitting, we will play nine games in six days,” notes coach Teresa Spurzem. “Our main focus at this point is getting our pitchers stronger and building stamina so they are able to pitch that many games in such a short amount of time.”

Other games are scheduled Tuesday, April 30 at home against Orono, Thursday, May 2 at Mound-Westonka and Friday, May 3 at home against Dassel-Cokato.

“I am really impressed with how our team has handled this season so far,” adds the coach. “Our team is staying focused and working hard, knowing that they have set goals they want to reach this season and snow/rain isn’t going to change that.”

The Wright County Conference has decided to split into a big school/small school conference in order to play the league games. The other small conference schools on the schedule will be considered non-conference.

The baseball team is slated to open the season Friday, April 26 at home against Litchfield in a double header. Delano travels to Orono for two games Tuesday, April 30 and is home to Mound-Westonka Thursday, May 2 with games at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Delano is home to Champlin Park for one game, 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 3.

The next boys golf event is 1 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the Mound-Westonka Invitational. Other scheduled meets are at Annandale Tuesday, April 30, at Ridges of Sand Creek Wednesday, May 1 and at New London-Spicer Thursday, May 2.

Girls golf plays Friday, April 26 at Hutchinson, Monday, April 29 at Annandale, Tuesday, April 30 at Litchfield, Wednesday, May 1 at Baker National and Thursday, May 2 at Glencoe-Silver Lake.

Boys lacrosse is expecting to start at Stillwater, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, before returning home to face Irondale, 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the Delano soccer complex. Delano is home against Holy Family, 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 3.

The revised girls lacrosse schedule is to be determined. Check the school website for all schedule changes.
