Dayton Police Report: March 2013

The following is a synopsis of events occurring in Dayton during March 2013. March 3 Personal injury accident: Victim was riding on his snowmobile and hit a bump and flew off. Friends who were riding along with him hit victim as he was lying on the ground. Victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance. March 13 Suspicious activity: Reporting party reported finding two DVD’s with “From Mike DVD for Computer Enjoy!” written on it in the mail box. Another Resident brought in another DVD to city hall March 13 that has the same writing on it and it was also left in her mailbox. Incident is under investigation. March 16 Attempted theft of a trailer and Bobcat: Reporting party advised that someone had attempted to take his trailer and bobcat. Reporting party stated that the suspect(s) had cut the trailer hitch off the trailer, and that the suspect(s) had cut off a pin type lock that he had on the trailer. This case is under investigation. Burglary: Suspect entered residence and stole a PlayStation 3. Case has been forwarded to the Hennepin County Detectives for further investigation. March 17 Intoxicated person complaint: Dispatched to a male who was intoxicated and fighting with family members. Upon arrival, officer located two males lying on the floor in the front door area. Suspect was being held down as he was very intoxicated and trying to fight. North called and suspect placed on a health and welfare hold. Suspect was transported to Maple Grove Hospital. Subject did not want to press and charges. Personal injury accident: Upon arrival officer observed that there was a Red Ford Pickup in the yard on the 16000 block of Dayton River Road, and I observed that the truck had struck a tree. Driver was confused and not sure what happened. Driver refused to be transported to hospital. Driver was cited for driving after revocation, expired tabs and no insurance. March 22 Reporting party stated someone stole an ATV from his property and had also tried to steal a small trailer loaded with lawn mowing equipment he had parked behind the garage. This incident was sent to the Hennepin County Detectives for investigation. March 25 Reporting party stated someone entered the lot at the business and stole 4 tires off of a vehicle. March 27 Reporting party states suspects cut hole in fence surrounding lot and stole several tires from vehicles. March 30 Juvenile male was stopped and cited for being out after curfew and for possession of tobacco. March 31 Upon arrival officer located an unoccupied gold vehicle that had crashed into a chain link fence, an electric fence, and two jersey barriers at 17780 Territorial Road. It appeared that the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on Territorial Road, that it turned left to go northbound on Holly Lane, and that it went up and over the curb. It appeared that the vehicle traveled northbound and struck a chain link fence, an electric fence, and two jersey barriers. This case is currently under investigation.
