Rockford Library Book Sale

APRIL 15 TO 26 — The Rockford Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale is Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 26 during library open hours. Find great bargains on good books for all ages. Snuggle Up and Read

APRIL 22 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., is offering a spring Snuggle Up and Read time for toddlers 18 months to three years of age. The story time will take place Monday, April 22, from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. This interactive storytime includes singing, clapping and fun stories that a child and parent/caregiver can enjoy together. Parents will learn a new literacy tip each week. Attendance limit is 10 parent/child pairs, and registration in advance is required. For information, call the library at 763-972-3467.

Cub Scout cake auction

APRIL 22 — Delano Cub Scout pack 273 will host its annual Cub Scout cake auction from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, at the Delano High School cafeteria. Bidder registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds are used to fund overnight Cub Scout summer camp. Each year the pack participates in many events to support the community such as: Central Park cleanup, collecting donations for the Delano Food Shelf, singing Christmas Carols at the Delano nursing homes and senior housing units, and assisting with the Delano Fourth of July Parade. Thousand Hearts Task Force meetings

APRIL 22 — Most people have a heart to serve and make a difference but many times lack resources, vision and coordination to achieve this goal. Thousand Hearts Crow River Serve Day invites you and your organization to join together to make a positive difference in the area Sunday, May 5. Task Force meetings for this event are Mondays in April at 7 p.m. at Riverwood Covenant Church (near State Hwy 55 and Vernon St.)

Grief Support Group

APRIL 22 — The Grief Support Group: Rebuilding Hope, sponsored by Ridgeview Medical Center will meet Monday, April 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Medical Center. This support group is for those experiencing grief or anticipating a loss of someone they care about. Clean Water Fair

APRIL 25 — A Clean Water Resource Fair will take place from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Independence City Hall, 1920 County Road 90. Anyone interested in enjoying lakes and caring for them is invited to attend the free event. Educational seminars start at 1 p.m. Check out the list of seminars and exhibitors at Vendors and agencies will share information about funding, Aquatic Invasive Species, aquatic weed control, boat ramp surveillance, rain gardens, erosion controls, engineering firms and much more. Food and door prizes will be available. APRIL 25 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at BankWest in Rockford from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 25. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment. Babysitting Class

APRIL 27 — Ridgeview Medical Center offers the newly revised American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This updated course gives 11- to 15-year-olds the skills and confidence to be great babysitters in a fun, fast-paced, interactive format. Read to a Dog

APRIL 27 — The Rockford Public Library is offering a “Read To a Dog” program for children Saturday, April 27, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dogs are great listeners, and even children who are not confident readers enjoy reading to them. Rockford’s library reading dog is Kirk, a 5-year-old farm collie who has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. He would love to have school age readers stop by and read to him. It’s Just Coffee

APRIL 30 — Come meet your Greenfield neighbors, share a cup of coffee and talk. Bring a friend and join in the fun.  It’s Just Coffee meets the last Tuesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. at Riverwood Covenant Church (7189 69th Ave. N). Your memories of Greenfield history are always welcome as this is also the home of The Greenfield Historical Society. Coffee and treats are provided.

Advance Care Planning…It’s About the Conversation

MAY 2 — It is important for people to have accurate information in order to make informed decisions about treatments they would or would not want for end-of-life care. Then it is important to talk about one’s wishes with family members who may need to make health care decisions, and to record your wishes in a document. Please join in for an information session that will explain why advance care planning is important and the steps involved.
