The Champlin Library is about to get a face lift.
“It isn’t considered it a major renovation but it is a facility modification,” said Carla Biermaier, Hennepin County Library representative. “It will be a refreshing of the library interior.”
The library’s modifications will include new carpeting and furnishings including new tables and chairs. The current information and circulation desk will also be combined into one service desk. The library’s new color palette will include dark purple’s and dark turquoise.
The work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 29 and be completed by Wednesday, May 22, in time for summer programming to begin.
According to Molly Schaaf, Champlin’s head librarian, the library staff is working with city staff to hold spring classes at the Champlin Ice Forum. During the renovation period, Schaaf recommends individuals interested in participating in library events during the renovation time period should contact the library to confirm schedules and class locations.
The library will remain open during the renovation, said Biermaier.
“The work will be done in phases with some work done at night so the public will be inconvenienced as little as possible,” she said.
This is the third facility modification this year for Hennepin County Libraries. Penn Lake and Minnetonka Libraries also received modifications.
