Rogers students receive top art awards

Rogers senior Nicole Fricke’ “Paul’s Tractor” won a Judge’s Choice Award at the Section 5AA Art Competition for acrylic on wood pallet.

Rogers High School students received many awards at the Section 5AA Art Competition.

The awards were presented at the Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley. Their works of art were on display for a week prior the event. The students had the opportunity to attend workshops and meet with the judges on Awards Day.

Section 5AA includes the following schools: Columbia Heights, Anoka, Spring Lake Park, Osseo, Champlin Park, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Maple Grove, Rogers and Totino Grace.

Judges’ Choice Awards: There were six judges and they each chose a work of art. This is the highest award.

These pieces advance to another show May 12: Taylor Kleven/ grade 12/ Painting/ Midnight Snack (acrylic on canvas); Nicole Fricke/ grade 12/ Painting/ Paul’s Tractor (acrylic on wood pallet); and Taylor Kleven/grade 12/Drawing/Me (pastel on paper).
