Author Stew Thornley

APRIL 11 — Author Stew Thornley will give a presentation for adults, teens and preteens 10 and older at the St. Michael Public Library Thursday, April 11, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thornley is an author of books on sports history for adults and young readers. He is an official scorer for home games of the Minnesota Twins, and his first book was “On To Nicollet: The glory and fame of the Minneapolis Millers.” He also enjoys visiting the graves of notable people and is the author of “Six Feet Under: A graveyard guide to Minnesota.” This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Llama Llama Read-A-Rama

APRIL 13 — Preschoolers and toddlers are invited to a Llama Llama Read-a-Rama at the St. Michael Public Library Saturday, April 13, 11 to 11:40 a.m. Celebrate with Llama Llama books, stories, songs, and fingerplays at the library. Antiques appraisal fair

APRIL 13 — An Antiques Appraisal Fair presented by the Hanover Historical Society is Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to noon at Hanover City Hall. Doors open at 9:15 a.m.; first-come, first-served. Door prizes awarded throughout the morning. Antiques Appraisal Fair. Appraisals will be performed by Appraisal Specialists Midwest’s Bonnie Lindberg and James Marrinan. Sons of Norway presentation

APRIL 16 — The Vestland Lodge Sons of Norway will host a presentation, “What life was like in 1,000 A.D. for our ancestors” by Jan Smith Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka. Smith will tell the stories of early life in Norway when men went out as Vikings and the women were left to guard and keep the hold. Info: 952-994-3174.

Half-Step Vocal Concert

APRIL 17 — Adults, teens and children are invited to a performance by vocal group The Half-Steps at the St. Michael City Hall Council Chambers Tuesday, April 17, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The Half-Steps have been entertaining Central Minnesota audiences for more than 12 years. Their set list runs the gamut from barbershop to doo wop to Elvis and Dean Martin. The attendance limit is 40 and registration is required. This event is co-sponsored by the Crow River Senior Center. Spring variety show

APRIL 19 — Fine Arts Council of St. Michael-Albertville is hosting a spring variety show, hosted by professional magician/emcee, Fred Baisch, Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. at STMA Middle School West auditorium. The line-up includes dancers from two area studios, the Life in Christ bell choir, the Moorman family bluegrass band, student musicians, the Maple Lake Clown-Arounds, as well as jazz musician, Joyce Lyons, and folk musician, Rena Haus. All proceeds will be shared between the Hanover Food Shelf and the Arts Council.

Lions breakfast

APRIL 21 —The Crow River Lions of Hanover are having a stuffed hashbrown breakfast Sunday, April 21, from 8 a.m. to noon. at Hanover City Hall. The hashbrowns are stuffed with a choice of ham, bacon, cheese, onions and mushrooms. Also included is scrambled eggs, muffins, juice, coffee and milk. The cost is $7 per adult, $5 child or $20 for a family. Proceeds are donated to area charities.

APRIL 26 — April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month. In honor of and to benefit children in the community, the Crisis Nursery serving Wright County is hosting its 15th Annual Spring Fund-raiser Friday, April 26, at 6 pm at the Buffalo Civic Center, Buffalo. The venue includes a BBQ Buffet (6 to 7:30 p.m.) catered by Red’s Catering of Montrose, live music by local band Crows Feet, a raffle for dollars, and a large silent auction followed by a live auction featuring many crowd pleasing items.  Cost for the evening is $25 in advance or $30 at the door. APRIL 27 — St. Michael Council of Catholic women Spring Salad Luncheon is Saturday, April 27, from 11:30-3:30 p.m. at the St. Michael Catholic Church Gathering Space. Featuring a vintage wedding gowns style show. All are welcome, adults $8, children under 10 $4.
