The Hanover Area Food Shelf recently received another generous donation check from the Hanover Athletic Association. The first check came just before Thanksgiving and this one in time for Christmas.

The total of $9,000 will be used to restock food items for families struggling to make ends meet through the holidays. Food shelf director Helen Skutley gladly accepted the checks and said the timing could not have been better.

The Hanover Area Food Shelf was established in 1980 and now serves 209 families with more than 400 children. Those families use, on average, 16,000 pounds of food per month and usage continues to climb. Many thanks were sent to the 50 wonderful volunteers who work at the shelf and also to the Hanover Athletic Association for their continued support.
