West Hennepin Public Safety

The following incidents were reported by West Hennepin Public Safety between March 11 and March 16.

Independence  

On March 14, at 7:43 p.m. there was a report of an Apple iPad 32G, white in color stolen on the 1800 block of Baker Park Road.

On March 15, at 2:48 p.m. a caller with broken English stated they are issuing new social security cards. The caller knew the residents address and verified it and then asked her bank information. No information was given as the resident knew it was a scam and disconnected the call on the 2300 block of Old Post Road.

On March 15, at 11:07 p.m. driver Sarah Jane Gallagher, 56, from Maple Plain and passenger Richard Lillehei, 59, from Howard Lake were northbound on County Road 19 when Gallagher’s vehicle spun out at the intersection of County Road 19 and Perkinsville Road. A 16-year-old female driver from Independence was southbound on County Road 19, attempted to avoid the crash and could not. Gallagher was arrested for fourth degree DWI, PBT .13. No injuries.

On March 16, at 9:50 a.m. a jogger reported he found what he thought was a couch cushion on the side of the road at Lake Sarah Road and Pagenkopf Road and upon closer examination saw it was a bag and wanted it picked up before some kids got into it or the owner came back for it. The green bag smelled a strong odor of marijuana, inside was a bong, some glass pipes with marijuana residue, a grinder and a plastic bag with marijuana. Case under investigation.

Maple Plain

On March 12, at 11:43 a.m. there was a report of a hit and run crash damage to a vehicle, red tail lights broken and the bumper was scratched on the 1800 block of Budd Avenue.

On March 13, at 11:28 a.m. there was a report of an electrical fire smell at 1520 Wyman Avenue. The staff maintenance located and fixed the problem.

On March 13, at 9:45 p.m. a female driver was following her 79-year-old husband back from Wayzata to Maple Plain, lost sight of him and was unable to locate him. A KOPS Alert (Keeping Our Officers Safe- a computerized, online Attempt to Locate system) was sent out on the vehicle. The husband was located on Weaver Road in Maple Grove by Maple Grove PD on the 5400 block of Bryant Street.
