Northern Lights Classic

The Minneapolis Convention Center welcomed gymnasts from 58 different gymnastics clubs in March to compete in the Northern Lights Classic hosted by Twin City Twisters club.

Competing for North Shore Gymnastics Association (NSGA) in the Level 10 Junior Division (age 15 and under), Amanda Bartemio placed fifth in the all-around. Her 9.55 on floor exercise earned Bartemio first place, qualifying her for the finals where she finished sixth.

Alex Kopp placed seventh in the all-around in the Senior Division for Level 10.

NSGA’s Level 9 team took fourth out of 10 teams. Sarah Ellingboe placed second on uneven bars and was fourth in the all-around for the 13 and under age group.

In the 14-15 group, Natalie Brasket finished fifth on the balance beam, Breghan Kiloran was sixth on bars and seventh in the all around and Megan White earned eighth place on bars.

Rounding out the Level 9 team was Lauren Biorn in the 16-plus division where she was second on beam and floor and third all-around.

In Level 8, North Shore’s Teagan Schmidt and Amanda Montplaisir competed in the 12 and under division. Schmidt was second on bars at 9.65.  Montplaisir placed fifth on bars.

In Level 7 Brynn Lampe was second on beam and Amanda Krampf finished 10th in the all-around. Kate Schmid placed third on floor, Mackenzie Kuphal was second on vault and bars, Isabelle Schuster was sixth in the all-around and Madelyn Peterson took fourth on beam.

Medals won in Milwaukee

Gymnasts from North Shore Gymnastics Association competed at the 2013 Salto Boys National Invitational held in Milwaukee.

Level 9 took home the second place trophy with only three competitors. Shane Wiskus competed took first place on floor, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars, high bar and all-around. Wiskus also finished second on rings.

Levi Gustafson earned first place awards on vault, rings, parallel bars, high bar and all-around. Gustafson also finished second on horse and third on floor.

In Level 8 Josh Fix finished first on pommel horse, vault, parallel bars and all-around. Fix finished second on floor, third on rings and fifth on high bar. Carter Pickens placed third on horse, fourth on vault and fifth on rings and all-around.

The Level 6 team placed fifth. Charlie Kramer won first place on floor and fourth place on parallel bars. Ryan Klump placed first on horse and fourth on rings.  Sam Senneka was second place on pommel horse.

Tristan Fruth finished sixth on pommel horse. Kyle Elliott placed fourth on parallel bars.

NSGA’s Level 5 team finished fifth. Caleb Hamby finished third on pommel horse, rings and parallel bars and was fifth all-around.

Kastle Kalamaha placed fourth on rings. Cole Smith earned fifth place honors on pommel horse.

Spring signup underway

North Shore Gymnastics Association is taking registration for the spring session for current students and new students.

The nine-week spring class session runs April 1 to June 1. The session includes the “Go for the Gold” Class meet which will be the last week of the session. Each student will receive an award and a commemorative t-shirt.

All participants must have a signed release waiver on file prior to participating in any gym activity.  Printable waivers are available on the North Shore website.

NSGA offers pre-school classes for boys and girls ages 18 months through 5 years and progressive classes for boys and girls ages 5 through 18. The club offers a variety of specialty classes for all ages including tumbling, junior varsity and high school gymnastics classes as well as daytime classes for homes school students.

Spring open gym times are offered on Friday evenings for ages 5 and over and during the day on Tuesday and Wednesday for pre-school age children.
