Housing for All Roundtable
APRIL 11 — The 2013 Housing for All Roundtable, “The road back from foreclosure,” will take place Thursday, April 11, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Interfaith Outreach Community Partners, 1605 County Road 101 in Plymouth. Learn answers to: how many families in the community have be impacted by foreclosures, what is one to do and how will this have a future impact on the community. Troop 531 Steak Fry
APRIL 12 — Boy Scout Troop 531 of Maple Grove will host a Steak Fry fundraiser dinner Friday April 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Post #172, 260 Fourth Ave. S.E. in Osseo. Menu includes: steak, fish or shrimp, baked potato, Texas toast, coleslaw for $10. A combination of steak and shrimp will cost $2 more at the door. Dessert will also be available for an additional charge. Water and coffee will be provided. All other drinks need to be purchased at the bar.
APRIL 12 & 13 — There will be a Maple Grove Quilt Guild Show, “Quilting With the Stars,” at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road in Maple Grove. Hours are Friday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $4. There will be quilts made by members, vendors, guild challenge exhibit, quilt raffle, bed turning, boutique and demonstrations.
Mother’s Day shopping event
APRIL 13 — There will be a Mother’s Day Shopping Event Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road. Each vendor will donate a portion of the sales to the March of Dimes. This event in honor of Audrey and Julia, who were born premature and received help through the March of Dimes.
APRIL 13 — KickStart Nutrition will host a free Healthy Family Spring event Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at is 8505 Jefferson Highway location in Brooklyn Park. Sample different healthy meal flavors, make protein-powder fudge, free mini wellness profiles, test nutrition knowledge, and activities for everyone. Women Golf Leagues
APRIL 17 & 20 — Daytona Golf has three women’s golf leagues and would like to welcome new and former members for the 2013 season. This is a great time to become involved in the planning of 2013 Maple Grove Days, running July 11 to 14. All committees will be represented at this meeting and will provide all interested volunteers the opportunity to learn what goes in into the planning of this event. Everyone, residents and non-residents, are welcome to join. The group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the community center at 7 p.m. Committee members are needed for the following areas: sponsorship, publicity, children’s events, food avenue, entertainment, business expo & crafts, Rice Lake Classic Run, Jr. Golf Tournament, teen events, truck show and site coordination. No experience required only the desire to work on a fun event with a fun group of people. Once Upon a Time Dance
APRIL 27 — Osseo Schools Community Education will again host the “Once Upon a Time Dance” event Saturday, April 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Oak View Elementary School in Maple Grove. This event is for girls ages 5 to 12 and their dads, grandpa, uncle or special adult to attend. Event-goers are able to dance to the Teddy Bear Band, have photos taken, make crafts, win princess prizes during bingo, purchase items from the Bling Shoppe, vote for a favorite cupcake creation, listen to a storyteller and adopt a Beary Tales Come True Teddy Bear. Over the past six years the dance has grown from 200 couples to 575 couples. The cost to attend ranges from $29 (adult + 1 girl) to $47 (adult + 3 girls).
