Joint Corcoran meeting
MARCH 7 — The Corcoran City Council, Planning Commission and Parks and Trails Commission of the City of Corcoran, Minnesota will meet jointly Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at Corcoran City Hall, 8200 County Road 116. The City Council will also conduct a regular council meeting immediately following the joint meeting. The March 7 meeting will replace/cancel the regularly scheduled March 14 city council meeting.
Global Makeover Day
MARCH 8 — Two Mary Kay beauty consultants are offering free make-overs, Friday, March 8 in an effort to help the Mary Kay company set a Guiness world record for the number of make-overs in one-day. They will take place at Lisa Rightler’s Studio 12 Salon, 600 Babcock Blvd. E. in Delano. Friday Fish Fries
MARCH 8 — The Heinzen-Ditter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary will offer Friday Fish Fries during Lent from 5 to 7 p.m. at the VFW Post, 19020 Hamel Road on the Medina/Plymouth border. Takeouts will be available. Fish fry dates are March 8, 15, 22 and 29.
‘Come to the Cabaret’
MARCH 9 — Veteran performers and new voices will step onto the Cabaret stage Saturday, March 9, when the show returns to the Delano Senior Center, located in Delano City Hall on Second Street at Bridge Avenue. The Senior Center production “Come to the Cabaret” will offer both dining and entertainment. The 2012 production was enjoyed by a standing-room-only audience. Sts. Peter and Paul benefit
MARCH 10 — Catholic United Financial will sponsor a benefit breakfast for Sts. Peter and Paul Parish from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 10 at the church’s Loretto Parish Center. The menu will include French toast, scrambled eggs, ham, potatoes, rolls, and beverages. A free will offering will be requested. Enter a free drawing to win a $25 gift card to Dobo’s Restaurant.
Grief Support Group
MARCH 11 — The Grief Support Group: Rebuilding Hope, sponsored by Ridgeview Medical Center will meet Monday, March 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Medical Center. This support group is for those experiencing grief or anticipating a loss of someone they care about. Wow Van visit
MARCH 12 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at Coborn’s supermarket on Highway 12 in Delano from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment. Winter Morning Stories
MARCH 12 — Children ages three through five are invited to attend Winter Morning Stories at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., Tuesdays, March 12 and 19, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. These preschool story times include stories, songs, and rhymes. Franklin Township Election, Annual Meeting
MARCH 12 — Darin Orr is running unopposed for a seat on the Franklin Town Board in the Tuesday, March 12, election. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Franklin Town Hall, 8735 County Road 16. The annual meeting will follow at about 8:15 p.m. Residents will approve the 2013 town budget.

Understanding Common Sleep Disorders
MARCH 13 — The class Understanding Common Sleep Disorders: Symptoms and Treatments is designed to give participants more knowledge about common sleep disorders and methods of treatment. Participants will discuss obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder and REM behavior disorder. Also discussed will be why fatigue is significant and the difference between home sleep testing vs. traditional sleep testing. The presenter, Lyle Kratochwill, RRT, RPSGT, RST, is manager of Ridgeview Medical Center’s Sleep Center and Respiratory Care. Luck of the Irish dinner
MARCH 16 — “Luck of the Irish Pot ‘O’ Gold” is the theme of the Delano Chamber of Commerce St. Patrick’s Day celebration, set for 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at B’s on the River, 1455 County Road 27, Watertown. A 6 p.m. cocktail hour will be followed by a 7 p.m. all you can eat Irish buffet. Entertainment will be offered all evening and live and silent auctions will be available. Single $15 tickets and $25 tickets for couples are available at Crow River Bank, State Bank of Delano, Delano Chevrolet, Coborn’s and the Chamber of Commerce. MARCH 18 — A card marathon for men and women will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the Delano Middle School media center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will host the marathon on the third Monday of every month from October through April, unless otherwise announced. GFWC charges a minimum fee for the marathon, which includes both 500 and cribbage. Last year over 50 people came to play. Refreshments will be served. Read to a Dog
MARCH 23 — The Rockford Public Library is offering a “Read To a Dog” program for children Saturday, March 23, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dogs are great listeners, and even children who are not confident readers enjoy reading to them. Rockford’s library reading dog is Kirk, a 5-year-old farm collie who has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. He would love to have school age readers stop by and read to him. Children may bring a favorite book or pick one out at the library. The library will also have “Read To a Dog” programs on the last Saturday in April.
