Lions Fish/Shrimp Fry

MARCH 8 — The Albertville Lions will be sponsoring a Fish & Shrimp Fry on Friday, March 8, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Albertville City Hall. Along with fish and shrimp, the menu includes baked potato, baked beans, coleslaw, dinner rolls, and cookies. The cost will be $10 for adults and $ 6.00 for kids 12 and under. All proceeds from the event will go to the Lions Vision Programs. There will also be a collection bin for old eyeglasses that are no longer being used.


MARCH 10 — Knights of Columbus BINGO is Sunday, March 10, starting promptly at 2 p.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Hall St. Martin campus – downtown Rogers. Kids are welcome to play. Cost is $7 for one card, $12 for two cards and $15 for three cards. Featuring 25 regular games with $10 – $20 prizes, $100 Cover-All game and PLUS 5 “Half the Take” games. Snacks and beverages available. Sponsored by N.W.-Hennepin K.C. Council #11941.

K of C fish dinner

MARCH 15 — Knights of Columbus Fish Dinner is Friday, March 15, 5 to 7 p.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Church Hall – St. Martin Campus (downtown Rogers). Cost is 4 & under free, 5 to 12 $6, and 13 and older $9. Family maximum is $40. MENU includes fish, macaroni & cheese, baked potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, dinner rolls, cookies and beverages. Foundation dance

MARCH 16 — The St. Michael Foundation will be hosting the annual Spring Dinner and Dance Fundraiser Saturday, March 16, at the Albertville Parish Center.

Social hour begins at 6:30, a chicken dinner catered by Russell’s starts at 7:00, followed by a dance from 8 to 11. Tickets can be purchased at the door. This will be a fun evening, so bring your family and friends and help support developmentally disabled people from your community.  Some of the activities your donations make possible for these people are community outings such as camps, bowling, fishing, dancing, mini golf and many educational programs. Thanks to your support, the St Michael Foundation is celebrating more than 30 years of “People Helping People”.

Spring tree pruning seminar

MARCH 16 — A spring tree pruning seminar is Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. (corrected time from City Newsletter) at Hanover City Hall. Hanover Park Board is sponsoring a Spring Tree Pruning Seminar. This pruning class will cover the basics of preparing trees for long productive lives in the landscape. You will also learn how small errors in the beginning lead to big problems later on. The class will begin with a simple lesson in tree anatomy, which in critical to understanding which pruning methods are good and which are not. We will focus on developing well-structured young trees, correcting problems in trees, minimizing unnecessary storm damage with timely pruning techniques as well as how to maintain healthy shrubs and hedges. Instructor, Janet McDaniel has been a Tree Care Advisor in Wright County since 2007. Her passions are teaching people about proper planting practices and invasive species. The seminar starts at 10 and should be 30-45 minutes with question/answer forum afterwards.

Rogers Ambassador 

Scholarship Program

MARCH 19 — Learn how you can receive a $200 scholarship, plus more, towards your post high school education through the Rogers Ambassador Scholarship Program. An informational meeting will be in the Rogers High School media center Tuesday, March 19 from 6:30 to 8 pm. This scholarship program is available to girls and guys, ages 16-21 who live, work or go to school in Rogers.

Rogers Community Dinner

MARCH 21 — The 41st Annual Rogers Community Dinner is Thursday, March 21, at Rogers Community Center, 21201 Memorial Dr. Featuring a 5 p.m. social and historical display and 7 p.m. buffet dinner. Menu includes prime rib, parmesan chicken, salad and dessert. Cost is $41 per attendee. This event features surprises. There will be piano melodies and pieces from Rogers-Hassan history. This is a Rogers Lions fund-raising project, helping various community projects, including the Hassan Historical Society. The Lions are in need of historical items for display, silent auction items and sponsors for the evening of the dinner. Spring book sale

MARCH 23 — The Friends of the St. Michael-Albertville-Hanover Library will be hosting its Spring Book Sale Saturday, March 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the bag sale beginning at 1 p.m.  The sale will take place in the City Council Chambers located at 11800 Town Center Dr. in St. Michael. Paperbacks will be for sale for $.50; trade paperbacks, DVDs and hardcovers $1; and best-seller items and some special sets will be for sale as marked. Donations are currently being accepted at the library during open hours. The library is not accepting textbooks, Reader’s Digest condensed books, and magazines or books with mold or mildew damage. All proceeds will go to the Friends of the St. Michael-Albertville-Hanover Library to support programming, special equipment and library furnishings. No presales or scanning devices are allowed. MARCH 28 — Corcoran City Council will meet will next meet Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m. at city hall at 8200 County Rd. 116.

Egg hunt

MARCH 30 — Hanover Park Board and Hanover Lions are once again working together in hosting the annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 30, at Hanover Settler’s Park by City Hall. Staggered start time by age group with the first group starting at 10 a.m. Outdoors so dress appropriately. Geared for ages up to 11. Bags to gather your treat-filled eggs will be provided by the Hanover Historic Society. Turn in prize eggs for larger gifts. Bring camera and hopefully capture a photo of the Easter Bunny.
