The Delano math team placed first in a 7 -team conference meet at Lakeville South on Monday, Feb. 11. The Tigers easily qualified for the state tournament as they placed first in all 5 conferences meets this year, and 20 straight conference wins overall. Delano finished the season ranked eighth in state. The Tigers also had three mathletes qualify for the individual portion of the state meet: Kristin Hedtke, Zach Muckenhirn, and James Redinger. This is the first year the Tigers have had so many students qualify individually.
The Tigers set a school record by scoring 438 points for the season, and Muckenhirn set a school record for most points individually in a season (64) and for a career (242). Delano had four students earn all conference honors: Muckenhirn, Hedtke, Redinger, and Michael Dahl.
