Corcoran Police


Corcoran Police reported a DAC/Warrant arrest Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7:54 p.m. at County Rd. 10 and County Rd. 116. Arrested was Melissa Lynn Torfin, 32, of Corcoran for driving after cancellation of her driver’s license and for an outstanding Scott County Warrant.


The department responded to a medical emergency Sunday, March 3 at 2:58 a.m. in the 226XX block of County Rd. 10. An 86 year old male was suffering tightness in his chest. The patient was transported to North Memorial Medical Center by North Ambulance.


The department responded to a report of welfare check on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 4:32 p.m. in the 196XX block of Larkin Rd. The reporting party was unable to reach their friend and they believe they had forgotten to hang up the phone. Officers went to the residence and spoke with the friend and found everything to be okay. They did forget to hang up the phone. The reporting party was advised.

The department responded to a report of an obscene phone call on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. in the 62XX block of Old Settlers Rd. The reporting party stated a female called them and made crude comments. The reporting party checked the last number dialed in and found the number to be a Florida exchange. Unknown if this is really the phone number of the caller due to technology it could be from anywhere. Officers advised if the calls continue to keep a log and contact the Police.

The department responded to a report of a fight on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 8:36 p.m. in the 97XX block of County Rd. 101. The reporting party stated there were five to six people fighting. No further information was given. Officers arrived on scene and found a group of people in the parking lot. The two victims were playing broomball when they were both going for the ball and Victim #1 struck Victim #2 in the face with their stick. Victim #2 then struck back in retaliation. Both victims refused medical attention at that time.

The department responded to a report of a dumping complaint on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 9:29 a.m. in the area of Horseshoe Trail and Old Settlers Rd. The Officer arrived and found four couches and a chair had been dumped on the side of the road. Officers were able to locate a receipt and are investigating to locate the suspect.

The department responded to a report of suspicious activity on Friday, March 1 at 5:53 a.m. in the 95XX block of County Rd. 19. The reporting party stated a pick up belonging to the business was running this morning when they got to work and no one was around. The reporting party advised that this truck had not been used all winter. As the Officer was checking out the vehicle, the reporting party came back and advised another employee was going to use the truck and had started it before the reporting party came in.

The department responded to a report of a narcotics complaint on Sunday, March 3 at County Rd. 19 and Highway 55. The reporting party stated the driver was smoking marijuana. Officers stopped the vehicle and the driver was cooperative and let the Officers search their vehicle. There were no narcotics found. There was no odor of marijuana in the vehicle or on the driver. No citations were issued.
