Quilt Exhibit

NOW TO MARCH 2 — Calico Quilters and the Friends of the Delano Public Library are sponsoring their Fifth Annual Quilt Exhibit. Quilts of area needle artists are on display at the library at 160 Railroad Ave. E. through March 2.

Advance Care Planning…It’s About the Conversation

FEB. 28 & MARCH 2 — It is important for people to have accurate information in order to make informed decisions about treatments they would or would not want for end-of-life care. Then it is important to talk about one’s wishes with family members who may need to make health care decisions, and to record your wishes in a document. Please join us for an information session that will explain why advance care planning is important and the steps involved. Sessions will be Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. and March 2, at 9:30 a.m. All sessions will be held at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia. Friday Fish Fries

MARCH 1 — The Heinzen-Ditter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary will offer Friday Fish Fries during Lent from 5 to 7 p.m. at the VFW Post, 19020 Hamel Road on the Medina/Plymouth border. Takeouts will be available. Fish fry dates are March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.

Winter Morning Stories

MARCH 5 — Children ages three through five are invited to attend Winter Morning Stories at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., Tuesdays, March 5 through 19, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. These preschool story times include stories, songs, and rhymes. Story Time Rockford Library

MARCH 6 — The Rockford Public Library will host Story Time for preschoolers on Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Join in for crafts, activities, stories and songs about fairy tales.

Delano Toastmasters

MARCH 6 — The Delano Toastmasters Club meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 11:45 a.m. at the Pizza Ranch, located on Highway 12 in the Delano Crossings retail center.

Library’s Dog Day Afternoons

MARCH 7 — Cuddle up and read with Annie, the golden retriever, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Annie is a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog. Sign ups are on the same day for 15 minutes of one on one reading time. The library will provide books of all reading levels. Color or do puzzles while you wait. Annie will be on hand the third Thursday of each month after school. Future dates are April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17 and Nov. 21. Joint Corcoran meeting

MARCH 7 — The Corcoran City Council, Planning Commission and Parks and Trails Commission of the City of Corcoran, Minnesota will meet jointly Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at Corcoran City Hall, 8200 County Road 116. The City Council will also conduct a regular council meeting immediately following the joint meeting. The March 7 meeting will replace/cancel the regularly scheduled March 14 city council meeting.

‘Come to the Cabaret’

MARCH 9 — Veteran performers and new voices will step onto the Cabaret stage Saturday, March 9, when the show returns to the Delano Senior Center, located in Delano City Hall on Second Street at Bridge Avenue. The Senior Center production “Come to the Cabaret” will offer both dining and entertainment. The 2012 production was enjoyed by a standing-room-only audience. Sts. Peter and Paul benefit

MARCH 10 — Catholic United Financial will sponsor a benefit breakfast for Sts. Peter and Paul Parish from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 10 at the church’s Loretto Parish Center. The menu will include French toast, scrambled eggs, ham, potatoes, rolls, and beverages. A free will offering will be requested. Enter a free drawing to win a $25 gift card to Dobo’s Restaurant.

General Federated Women’s Club

MARCH 12 — The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano (GFWC) meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month from September through May, usually at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Most meetings have an educational topic before the business meeting. The purpose of the Club is to provide opportunities for club members to make contributions to their community.

Franklin Township Election, Annual Meeting

MARCH 12 — Darin Orr is running unopposed for a seat on the Franklin Town Board in the Tuesday, March 12, election. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Franklin Town Hall, 8735 County Road 16. The annual meeting will follow at about 8:15 p.m. Residents will approve the 2013 town budget.
