In addition to the traditional freeskate events, skaters will compete in compulsory, jumps, and spins events (two skaters on the ice at a time demonstrating specific skating elements for their level), as well as Artistic programs. Artistic programs include creative interpretation of music, using choreography and costumes…and they can get really creative. Skating competitions group skaters at different skill levels together in small groups, to make the events fair and fun for all of the participants.

Jessica Jarosik, Osseo Junior High eighth grader, and Lauren Jarosik, Rice Lake Elementary fifth grader, will take part in the upcoming Figure Skating Competition in Brooklyn Park on Feb. 24.
