Mona Lisa in the snow

MGSHsnowArt1

Under the tutelage of student art teacher Mr. Nelson at Maple Grove Senior High School, the Drawing B students came together in a team effort and created a monumental Mona Lisa in the snow Feb. 13. The overall theme is community involvement and the Crimson Way, and the idea is that as individuals we only add to a portion of the bigger picture, but when we work together the “picture” is whole. This is a formative start to a more involved piece that will hopefully be displayed for a longer duration (or permanently) in the school somewhere based on the Crimson Way. Students will be using Shrinky Dinks as their drawing medium and the project will contain over 300 shrinky dink drawings. The school is hoping this piece will be 4 x 8 feet in dimension and will hopefully involve the viewer into the work as a participant.
