A memorial service for Harold Lester Husen, 88, was Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Osseo United Methodist Church, 16 Second Ave. S.E. in Osseo.
Interment will take place at a later date.
Mr. Husen passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. He was born on Sept. 7, 1924, on the home farm in Sioux Valley Township in Jackson County. He was the son of Hugo and Mary (Schoening) Husen.
He attended school in Sioux Valley and graduated in 1942. He worked for several years on the farm with his father and then began working for Wiese Electric in Lakefield, until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1949.
After military service, he returned to Lakefield and continued as an electrician.
On July 24, 1965, he married Helen Finnern Roslansky and they made their home in rural Osseo. He worked as an electrician for Killmer Electric in Osseo for 27 years until he retired in 1989.
For many years, he enjoyed working in his workshop creating many beautiful pieces of furniture and toys for the grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, and caring for the many birds at the feeders at their home. He and Helen traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada; also to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Harold was a member and trustee for many years at Osseo United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen; his son, Paavo (Julia) Husen of N. Aurora, Ill.; daughter, Maria (Anthony) Perez of Galt, Calif.; grandchildren, Dimitry and Sasha Husen and Aina Perez; step-son-in-law, Gordon Hermanson; step-children, David (Kathy) Roslansky of Worthington, Suzanne Hilmer of St. Louis, Mo., and Daniel (Connie) Roslansky of Burnsville; 10 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great grandchildren.
Mr. Husen was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Mary; brother, Walter Husen; his step-daughter, Kathryn Hermanson; and his step-son-in-law, Bert Hilmer.
