Quilt Exhibit

NOW TO MARCH 2 — Calico Quilters and the Friends of the Delano Public Library are sponsoring their Fifth Annual Quilt Exhibit. Quilts of area needle artists are on display at the library at 160 Railroad Ave. E. through March 2.

RFD Spaghetti Dinner

FEB. 16 — The Rockford Fire Departments Women’s Auxiliary is hosting a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. n the fire station located at 6700 Main St. For a nominal donation (children ages 5 and under eat for free), tickets can be purchased at the door. The menu includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, garlic brad, milk and dessert.

Festival of Chocolate 

FEB. 16 — Teens and preteens ages 10 to 14 are invited to a Festival of Chocolate from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Chocolate lovers will experience a morning of chocolate fun with trivia, tasting and more. Attendance limit is 15. Registration in advance is required. Call the library at 763-972-3467.

Make polymer clay mosaic tiles

FEB. 16 — Adults, teens and preteens 10 and older are invited to a class on making polymer clay mosaic tiles at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 16, Artist Stephanie Etzel will teach techniques to create and embellish mosaic tiles made with versatile polymer clay. The material can be baked in a home oven, and participants will leave with some completed, ready-to-bake tiles. This class requires the use of a sharp knife without supervision. The attendance limit is 15 and registration in advance is required. To register, call 763-972-3467. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Winter Morning Stories

FEB. 18 — Children ages three through five are invited to attend Winter Morning Stories at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., Tuesdays, Feb. 18 through March 19, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. These preschool story times include stories, songs, and rhymes. Card Marathon

FEB. 18 — A card marathon for men and women will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the Delano Middle School media center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will host the marathon on the third Monday of every month from October through April, unless otherwise announced. GFWC charges a minimum fee for the marathon, which includes both 500 and cribbage. Last year over 50 people came to play. Refreshments will be served. Women of Today

FEB. 18 — The Maple Grove Chapter of Women of Today hosts its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month. The group invites everyone to join them at the Maple Grove Community Center at 7 p.m. Guests from Maple Grove and surrounding communities are welcome. The mission of Women of Today is to help women improve their own lives and the lives of the people in their communities. Breast Cancer Support  Group

FEB. 19 — The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B at Ridgeview Medical Center. During each support group session, an educational topic, such as music therapy, plastic surgery or breast cancer statistics will be discussed. This support group provides an opportunity for women to ask questions, share concerns, and offer support to one another in regard to their experiences with breast cancer. Library’s Dog Day Afternoons

FEB. 21 — Cuddle up and read with Annie, the golden retriever, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Annie is a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog. Sign ups are on the same day for 15 minutes of one on one reading time. The library will provide books of all reading levels. Color or do puzzles while you wait. Annie will be on hand the third Thursday of each month after school. Golf in the Park

FEB. 23 — The Rockford Lions will host its second annual Blue Ball Open on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Riverside Park. Bring your favorite club, tennis ball provided. There will be skill contests, door prizes and plenty of fun.

Winter Walkabout

FEB. 23 — Vinland National Center will hold its fourth annual “Winter Walkabout” 3K snowshoe walk beginning at 1 p.m. at the center, located at 3675 Ihduhapi Road in Independence. Register as an individual or a team at winterwalkabout.org. Early bird rates end Feb. 11. Proceeds will benefit Vinland Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to full lives for people with disabilities.

Read to a Dog

FEB. 23 — The Rockford Public Library is offering a “Read To a Dog” program for children Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dogs are great listeners, and even children who are not confident readers enjoy reading to them. Rockford’s library reading dog is Kirk, a 5-year-old farm collie who has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. He would love to have school age readers stop by and read to him. Children may bring a favorite book or pick one out at the library. The library will also have “Read To a Dog” programs on the last Saturdays in March and April.

FEB. 28 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at BankWest in Rockford from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. Advance Care Planning…It’s About the Conversation

FEB. 28 & MARCH 2 — It is important for people to have accurate information in order to make informed decisions about treatments they would or would not want for end-of-life care. Then it is important to talk about one’s wishes with family members who may need to make health care decisions, and to record your wishes in a document. Please join us for an information session that will explain why advance care planning is important and the steps involved.
