West Hennepin Public Safety

The following incidents were reported by West Hennepin Public Safety between Jan. 13 and Jan. 26.

Independence  

On Jan. 17, at 7:55 p.m. Elizabeth Ilona Sims, 44, of Orono was cited for a third degree DWI and crash on the 5100 block of County Road 19. Charges pending result of blood test. A 8-year-old passenger was transported to Methodist Hospital by his father for a precautionary checkup.

On Jan. 18, at 9:48 a.m. a resident on the 2700 block of County Road 90 reported he tried to catch two golden lab dogs were running around his property. The dogs ate all of his cat food and he thinks they were hungry. Both had collars, one was reddish the other greenish. No one called in for two missing golden lab dogs.

On Jan. 21, at 1:52 p.m. a caller stated to resident that they were with Medicare and wanted to confirm her address and phone number and stated they had new cards to mail to her on the 6900 block of Fogelman Road. The caller then asked her for the banking information that her social security gets deposited in. The resident asked why they needed that, she doesn’t give that out and the caller hung up on her. The resident was advised she did a great job in not giving her information out.

On Jan. 22, at 7:46 p.m. Christopher Daniel Gardner, 48, of Independence was cited for a fourth degree DWI on the 5600 block of Pagenkopf Road. Charges pending blood results.

On Jan. 24, at 8:14 a.m. a school bus driver reported a stop arm violation at County Road 90/Meadow Ridge Road. First Student School Bus stopped southbound on County Road 90, stop arm out, lights activated and the bus driver observed a vehicle traveling northbound not showing any signs of stopping. Bus driver honked the horn for 6 to 8 seconds trying to alert the driver. The driver did not slow down, ran through the activated stop arm and stopped approximately 100 feet past the bus. A license plate was noted and follow up with the registered owner to be completed.

On Jan. 24, at 6:18 p.m. someone dumped a large pile of leaves in the roadway on the 700 block of Wild Oak. It appeared that someone had filled up a trailer and forgot to dump it in the fall; obviously needed the trailer now, had no place to dump the leaves and dumped them on Wild Oak Trail.

On Jan. 25, at 12:48 a.m. Michael Joseph Grengs, 62, of Greenfield was cited for a fourth degree DWI, AC .14  at Hwy. 12/County Road 92 N.

On Jan. 25, at 6:05 p.m. a rock was thrown through a residential window on the 6400 block of Hillstrom Road. Glass shattered approximately 10 feet inside the house. Case under investigation.

On Jan. 26, at 8:23 p.m. an officer observed vehicle driven with a flat front tire at Hwy. 12/Valley Road. A 45-year-old motorist from Watertown was unaware of the flat tire and did not know how to change a tire. Officer changed the tire and the motorist was very thankful for the help.

Maple Plain

On Jan. 15, at 7:25 p.m. there was a report an 18-year-old male from Blaine selling a “Pizza” card without a solicitors permit on the 5800 block of Amy Lane. Solicitor was warned and to get a permit from Maple Plain City Hall.

On Jan. 23, at 7:36 a.m. there was a report that someone received a call of a suspicious vehicle in front of the bank, sitting crossway in the parking stalls on the 4900 block of Highway 12. The officer found the vehicle was unlocked and a note inside from the registered owner stating he was making a bank deposit drop for Pete’s Pizza when the vehicle malfunctioned and he got an alternative ride home.  The registered owner, 25-year-old male from Tonka Bay stated he was working on getting a tow and the vehicle would be removed shortly.
