The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) recently named Rockford Elementary Arts Magnet School as a Celebration school.
More than 100 Celebration eligible schools in Minnesota applied for this distinction. In a letter to the school, Commissioner Dr. Brenda Cassellius stated, “Your selection is a direct reflection of the gains your school has made and the tireless efforts you and your staff have directed toward improving outcomes for your students.”
The purpose of the Award is to identify Minnesota Title I schools that have demonstrated excellence on Minnesota’s new Multiple Measurement Rating (MMR) and have exhibited success with initiatives that have led to positive student outcomes. “Title I programs allow schools to address the educational needs of children living with various strategies for improving the entire school so every student achieves high levels of academic proficiency. ”Cassellius went on to say, “It takes focus and commitment to put systems and strategies in place that yield the kind of results your school has shown. You and your entire team deserve sincere congratulations for this outstanding accomplishment.”
REAMS Principal Brenda Petersmeyer said, “I am extremely proud of the Rockford Elementary Arts Magnet School staff for the positive dedication that they provide each child. Their commitment to close the achievement gap through best practices and differentiation is outstanding.”
The Minnesota Department of Education will be making a formal announcement of all the Celebration School designees sometime during the week of January 21.
