The Rogers Royals shot 12-for-12 on free shots and hit the boards offensively in knocking off a strong Monticello team 49-37 on Thursday evening at home.
Taylor Paulsrud netted 14 points, and Marina Nowak delivered 12 points and 10 rebounds, for the Royals.
Rogers (13-7 overall) now holds second place in the Mississippi 8 with a 4-1 record. The Magic (16-4 overall) dropped to third at 3-2. St. Michael-Albertville is 5-0 in conference.
“We made 12 of 12 free throw, which is a school record,” said coach Karlee Anderson. “It was a great game. We had 10 or 11 offensive rebounds. That was one of our goals tonight.”
The previous team free throw record was 11-for-11.
Coming off a poor performance in a 50-32 loss to Shakopee, the girls bounced back, said the coach.
“We rebounded really well, after the loss Tuesday. The girls worked their tails off for this victory.”
Taylor Anderson added 9 points, Kirsten Heikkinen 8 and Shelby Darr 5 for Rogers.
Grace Sawatzki led the Magic with 14 points.
Rogers was to play at St. Michael-Albertville on Tuesday.
