Conditions weren’t ideal but the Osseo Orioles got to experience old school hockey when they played outdoor at Coon Rapids Saturday, Jan. 19.

The game started under a sunny sky and temperatures in the 30s. Then the sun disappeared, the wind started to howl, the snow swirled and it got chilly. Players on both sides gutted it out and played a competitive game. The Orioles outshot the host 29-20 but fell behind 3-0. They managed only a third period power play goal by Mason Hautala with an assist from AJ Lyons. Alex Otto was in goal in a 3-1 loss.

Earlier in the week, the Orioles tied Andover 3-3 in overtime in the warm confine of the Tin Bin. Hautala scored two goals and Austin Ledin one.

The Orioles next host Champlin Park Thursday, Jan. 24 and entertain undefeated Blaine Saturday, Jan. 26.
