A Maple Grove family will have to live elsewhere temporarily after a house fire the afternoon of Thursday, Jan. 10.
Maple Grove Fire Chief Scott Anderson said the fire started just before 3 p.m. on the 6800 block of Umpire Lane N. The fire is believed to have started somewhere in a bedroom on the second floor of the single-family home.
There were four of the city’s five Fire Stations on the scene.
“The damage was confined to the bedrooms on the second floor and to the attic,” he said.
The home is not a total loss, but it is not livable until everything is reconstructed. Damage is estimated to be between $40,000 to $50,000.
“All the home’s occupants and pets got out safely,” Chief Anderson said.
The cause of the fire seems to be accidental, but the official cause is still under investigation.
