Maple Grove boys win twice in basketball

Erik Olson led Maple Grove to an impressive 63-48 victory at No. 8 Elk River Jan. 10.

Olson, the chairman of the board in the Northwest Suburban Conference, grabbed 10 rebounds, played tough defense and scored 19 points to spark the Crimson’s second half domination. Brycen Wojta had 8 points and 7 assists.

MG dominated Coon Rapids 68-44 Jan. 8. The Crimson built a huge lead early and coach Nick Schroeder was able to empty his bench.

Austin Paul finished with 12 points, Jake Sterling 11, and Jake Wieneke and Elliott Kane both had 10.

The Crimson are now 7-4 overall, 5-2 in Northwest Suburban play. They visit Blaine Friday, Jan. 18.
