Franklin Township renews winery CUP

The Franklin Town Board Monday, Jan. 7, renewed the conditional use permit (CUP) that enables Mike and Katie Dickerman to operate the Woodland Hill Winery, located at County Road 30 S.E.

Mike Dickerman said he is planning to go to Wright County to amend the CUP so that he can expand his current 1,300 square foot tasting room to 2,500 square feet.

Board Chair John Czantskowski Sr. said the Town Board agenda item was for renewing the CUP at the current 1,300 square feet only and not for the expansion. The board set the time for renewal of the CUP at two years because it was confident that the winery would comply with the provisions. The CUP would be changed if the Dickermans proceed with requests to expand.

Woodland Hill Winery received its last CUP approval in January 2012.

The Town Board also:

DECIDED to solicit bids for printing the recycling calendar and for township designated newspaper.

TALKED with newly elected Wright County Commissioner Charlie Borrell. He said he is open to listening to the many townships in his district, the newly created Fifth District.
