Fiber arts exhibit

THROUGH JAN. 26 — The Friends of the Delano Public Library is sponsoring its second annual fiber arts exhibit that will take place Jan. 8 – 26 at the library, located at 160 Railroad Ave. E.

‘Christmas in Norway’ movie night

JAN. 18 — The Sons of Norway Vestland Lodge of Minnetonka will present a movie night and show “Christmas in Norway,” 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka. This movie provides a charming look at Norwegian Christmas traditions. Concessions featuring popcorn, candy and pop will be on hand. Info: 952-994-3174.

Women of Today

JAN. 21 — The Maple Grove Chapter of Women of Today hosts its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month. The group invites everyone to join them at the Maple Grove Community Center at 7 p.m. Guests from Maple Grove and surrounding communities are welcome. The mission of Women of Today is to help women improve their own lives and the lives of the people in their communities. Card Marathon

JAN. 21 — A card marathon for men and women will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the Delano Middle School media center, located on Tiger Drive north of Elm Avenue. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will host the marathon on the third Monday of every month from October through April, unless otherwise announced. GFWC charges a minimum fee for the marathon, which includes both 500 and cribbage. Last year over 50 people came to play. Refreshments will be served. Winter Morning Stories

JAN. 22 — Children ages three through five are invited to attend Winter Morning Stories at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., Tuesdays, Jan. 22 through March 19, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. These preschool story times include stories, songs, and rhymes. Read to a Dog

 JAN. 26 — The Rockford Public Library is offering a “Read To a Dog” program for children Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dogs are great listeners, and even children who are not confident readers enjoy reading to them. Rockford’s library reading dog is Kirk, a 5-year-old farm collie who has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. He would love to have school age readers stop by and read to him. Children may bring a favorite book or pick one out at the library. The library will also have “Read To a Dog” programs on the last Saturdays in February, March and April.

Advance Care Planning…It’s About the Conversation

JAN. 26, FEB. 28 & MARCH 2 — It is important for people to have accurate information in order to make informed decisions about treatments they would or would not want for end-of-life care. Then it is important to talk about one’s wishes with family members who may need to make health care decisions, and to record your wishes in a document. Please join us for an information session that will explain why advance care planning is important and the steps involved. Sessions will be Jan. 26, at 9:30 a.m.; Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m.; and March 2, at 9:30 a.m. All sessions will be held at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia. Relay for Life open house

JAN. 27 — Delano Relay for Life will hold an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Delano High School cafeteria. This is an opportunity to learn how to volunteer for committees or join a team for the 2013 Delano Relay for Life, set for Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27, at Delano Central Park. Wow Van visit

JAN. 31 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at BankWest in Rockford from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment.
