Osseo skiers enjoy snow, good performances
The Osseo Nordic ski team is enjoying having snow to practice on this year and it’s paying off with good performances.
The boys’ team won the six-team 7.5K classic race displaying good depth. Tanner Wetzel led the way taking second with his best race of the year. Adam Berkowitz, Kevin Curwick and Austin Schumer took sixth,seventh, and eighth, respectively. David Jeydnak took 19th to complete the team score. Jason Schulte, 21st, Mitch Dehmer 25th, Mark Gooley 29th, Luc Robichaud 36th, Austin Carline 41st,Sam Carroll 42nd, and Carter Eich 43rd completed the varsity line up.
“The boys’ team has worked hard at improving their classic skiing. They are developing a core of skiers that can compete with the good team,” said coach Kay Pederson.
Team Scores: Osseo 458, Andover 452,Coon Rapids 441, Armstrong 394, Anoka 341 and Blaine 9.
The girls’ team took third. Kaley Shagen and Sarah Bezdicek both had outstanding races and finished 1,2 to pace the girls’ team. Marissa Wright 15th, Jenna Thompson 24th and Jenny Schoenrock 25th all had good races and counted in the team score. Sam Haven 29th, Kaitlyn Anderson 31st, Mariah Wetzel 33rd and Sarah Todey 35th had good varsity races.
“Sarah is just coming back from having her tonsils removed. It was a good to have her back racing. We look forward to having her fully recovered and set for the conference meet,” said coach Brad Rosch.
Team Scores: Armstrong 451, Andover 448, Osseo 433,Coon Rapids 408, Anoka 407 and Blaine 235.
