Hockey: Rogers girls stymie Sabres 2-0

Michelle Klimstra made 34 saves as the Rogers Royals defeated Sartell-St. Stephen 2-0 at home on Saturday.
Ellie Fellen scored on a power play in the second period and Kaitlin Braiedy scored in the second period as the Royals (6-9-3) prevailed despite being outshot 34-22 by the Sabres (9-4-2).
Braiedy and Emily Antony assisted on the Fellen goal, and Jenna Nelson on the Braiedy goal.
Klimstra and the Royals logged their fourth shutout of the season.
In earlier action, Emily Antony scored twice as Rogers emerged with a 3-2 win over Hutchinson in a frustrating game Thursday evening at Hutchinson.
The Royals had a 51-10 edge in shots. The Tiger goalie making 48 saves was Quin McCormick.
Antony scored in the first and third periods, and Kaitlyn Braeidy had a shorthanded goal in the second period.
Antony’s second goal gave Rogers a 3-1 lead with 4:52 left. Hutchinson’s Ellie Larson scored just 10 seconds later to make it a one-goal game for the last 4:42.
The Royals are 5-9-3 with two non-conference wins over the Tigers (1-11-1). The score was 4-0 at Rogers on Dec. 20.
Rogers will host Sartell-Sauk Rapids on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Rogers was to play at Princeton on Tuesday.
