Open Skating
DAILY — Open skating is available at the Champlin Ice Forum, 12165 Ensign Ave., Champlin, Mondays through Fridays from 10 to 11:45 a.m. and Saturdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Also, Sundays through Nov. 18 from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. No open skate Dec. 15, Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26, Feb. 2, 16 Fee is $4 students, $5 adults. Skate rental is $3 per pair. Skate sharpening is $3 per pair. Open skate passes for 8 open skate sessions costs $24 for youth and $32 for adults. Info: 763-421-3696.

Park Nicollet grand opening
JAN. 14 — Park Nicollet Clinic in Champlin will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting and tour at 10 a.m. Attendees will also have a chance to meet the staff. Located at 12142 Business Park Boulevard North, Champlin.

‘Christmas in Norway’ movie night
JAN. 18 — The Sons of Norway Vestland Lodge of Minnetonka will present a movie night and show “Christmas in Norway,” 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka. STEM Fair
JAN. 19 — The Anoka Hennepin School District will hold its annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Fair Saturday, Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Anoka High School The fair provides an opportunity for students to showcase their inquiry skills and creative genius. With more than 1,000 students involved, Anoka-Hennepin’s fair is the largest of its kind in the state.
MLK, Jr. Day Celebration
JAN. 21 — Celebrate MLK, Jr. Day at Champlin Ice Forum from 10 a.m. to noon with crafts, snacks and other activities. Event is free and for students with the day off of school and for all ages who wish to participate. Open skating will be running concurrently at the Ice Forum for a $3 charge.

Band 6 concert
JAN. 24 — Jackson Middle School Band 6 will host two concerts. Band A will perform at 6:30 p.m. Band B will perform at 7:45 p.m. in Jaguar Gym 1 at Jackson Middle School, 6000 109th Ave. North, Champlin.
Steak fry fundraiser
JAN. 27 — Champlin’s 12U Traveling Baseball team will host a steak fry at the Osseo Legion, 260 4th Avenue SE, Osseo. The fundraiser is Sunday, Jan. 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Proceeds will be used towards the team’s trip to Cooperstown, NY this July, to compete for one week at a National level. Meal choices are steak, shrimp or walleye along with potato, toast, coleslaw, beverage and various desserts. Can upgrade to steak & shrimp at the door for an additional $2. Observatory viewing
JAN. 28 — Visit the Jackson Middle School Observatory from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to look at stars, the moon, winter constellations and more. Weather is always an issue so if it is cloudy or snowing, the public viewing could be cancelled. Please check the Observatory website before arriving.
