LETTER: Thanking those teachers, firefighters and police officers

To the Editor:

In light of the extremely tragic events that has occurred in this country the past couple of weeks, from Officer Decker being murder in Cold Spring to the small children of Newtown, Connecticut being executed I would like to take this opportunity this Christmas season to express my heart felt gratitude and appreciation to three groups of people that truly make a difference in our communities:

First, to the all those who make the schools in our communities first class, provide high quality education and collaborate with their respective law enforcement partners. Thank you for all you do to provide for an awesome educational environment for our children.

Secondly, I would like to express my gratitude to the firefighters in our communities who give so much of their time to provided medical and fire suppression response. Even this Christmas season many will have their celebrations and family time interrupted to respond to an emergency in our communities. A huge thank you to each of the firefighters and their families for your unselfish service to the citizens you serve.

Thirdly, to the police officers who serve and protect our communities from the evil that is so prevalent in our society today. From December 14 to 17, 2012, six police officers lost their life while protecting us. I’m very grateful and thankful for each person who has chosen to be a police officer and make our communities a safer place to live and raise our families.

These people who serve our communities and give of themselves to make our communities a great place to raise families are your neighbors, friends or families. Please join me in expressing our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for their dedicated service to our communities.

Again a HUGE thank you to our educators, firefighters and police officers who serve in our communities.
