Hockey: Hermantown downs Rogers boys 11-2

The No. 2 ranked Hermantown Hawks pounded the Rogers Royals 11-2 in a match of two Section 7A teams on Saturday in Hermantown.

Bo Gronseth and Nate Pionk each drilled three goals as the Hawks (6-1) fired 72 shots at Royal goalie Blake Termus.

Travis Brown and Matt Hellickson had the goals for Rogers (2-5-1).

Rogers completed a grueling stretch of four straight games against top-10 ranked teams, all losses.

The Royals will play in the Schwan Cup Bronze Division starting Wednesday against Cretin-Derham Hall at 2:30 p.m. in Blaine.
