West Hennepin Public Safety

The following incidents were reported by West Hennepin Public Safety between Nov. 26 and Dec. 8.

Independence

On Nov. 29, at 3:09 p.m. there was a report that a 35-year-old female from Minneapolis fell off a horse broke her arm, compound fracture on the 5500 block of Timber Trail. Victim was transported to North Memorial Medical Center.

On Dec. 2, at 3:32 p.m. there was a report that someone stole a lighted large horse Christmas ornament from a yard on the 5100 block of Broadmoor Drive. Loss value is $150.

On Dec. 6, at 11:56 p.m. there was a report that a 42-year-old male from Coon Rapids was walking on Hwy. 12 near Valley Road. The male stated he was involved in a domestic in Montrose needed to get to Coon Rapids so he started walking. Officer gave him a ride to the SA in Golden Valley and his sister sent a friend to pick him up.

On Dec. 7, at 9:48 a.m. the Stahlke Bus Service reported a female driver drove through the school bus stop arm on the 3800 block of County Line Road. Case under investigation.

On Dec. 8, 4:22 p.m. there was a report that a white full size van or a white Ford excursion was northbound on the 1800 block of Nelson Road when the driver stopped in the road, shot a turkey on the west side of the road and threw the turkey in his vehicle and took off. Officer checked the area and found where the turkey was shot as feathers were scattered around. This was a violation of taking game out of season as turkey season is not open, along with trespassing. The driver was not found.

Maple Plain

On Nov. 28, at 9:13 a.m. a resident found keys in his yard on the 5300 block of Clayton Drive. Keys consist of a house key and a vehicle key. Keys at WHPS for safekeeping for owner to claim them.

On Dec. 4, at 4:37 a.m. the department received a call of a male with a long beard and cowboy hat that appeared to look in a window of the 5210 building on Main Street E. The area was checked, unable to locate the male.

On Dec. 4, at 2:28 p.m. there was a report of an illegal dumping of garbage in a business cardboard recycling dumpster on the 4900 block of Highway 12. Officer noted garbage with two address labels that were not the business owners. Case under investigation.

On Dec. 6, at 6:03 p.m. Officer Rick Denneson did two days of one-hour presentations on infant/child car seat use at the Discovery Center to Mrs. Penaz’s ECFE class on the 5050 Independence Street. Officer Denneson discussed the use of child safety seats, proper installation, common mistakes in car seat use and when to move to the next car seat size. Participants were offered to do 1 on 1 inspection of their infant/child seats at West Hennepin PD by appointment.

On Dec. 6, at 7:09 p.m. a driver called stating she left the tailgate on her pickup truck open and she thought she lost something but wasn’t sure. Officer advised of an earlier call of a car jack found. The driver said the car jack is hers, must have fallen out of her truck. When advised a car driving on Highway 12 may have hit her car jack, she changed her story and she was not missing a car jack. Incident on the 5100 block Main Street E.
