Church drops Franklin Township quest

Old Apostolic Lutheran Church Monday, Dec. 3, told the Franklin Town Board that it wants to withdraw its petition for roadway improvements needed for access to property located west of 90th Street and County Road 13.

Old Apostolic had been looking at a 65-acre property as a potential site for a new church. The current Minnetonka church building is filled to capacity, and the congregation is looking for a new location. However, neighbors objected to the road improvements Old Apostolic needed to provide access for people visiting the church.

On Dec. 3 Greg Halling, representing the church, said Old Apostolic still really likes the area, and it is a great location for members living in the area. The church still is looking for land, and it might come before the Town Board again, if the congregation finds the right site in Franklin Township.

Board Chair John Czantskowski Sr. said the township will need a written request to abandon the petition and a request to refund the remainder of the escrow money being held by the township.
