Hockey: Tartan stymies Rogers girls 3-1

The Rogers Royals, stymied by Tartan goalie Maggie Straka after an early power-play goal, fell to the Titans 3-1 on Friday evening in Oakdale.

Jaimie Nowicki erupted for a third-period hat trick for Tartan (3-3), while the Royals came up empty on 23 shots in the period. Straka stopped 44 of 45 in the game.

Kaitlin Braiedy had the first-period goal for Rogers, assisted by Leah Benson, after a tripping penalty on Tartan. The Royals who would finish 1-for-6 on power plays.

Rogers (1-4-1) will play at Buffalo on Tuesday.
