Having some time to heal from football season injuries, Delano started the boys basketball season with a healthy 85-38 victory over New Ulm Saturday.
The Tigers got off to a fast 13-2 start, upped it to 34-10 to led 59-23 at the half.
“We were very active on the defensive end, forcing 23 turnovers in the first half and 40 for the game,” said coach Terry Techam. “This helped us get some easy baskets.”
Zach Checkal led with 19 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals and five assists.
Toby Hanson scored 16 points with four rebounds, six steals and six assists.
Dalton Pulis added 15 points and grabbed five rebounds. Damon Longstreet netted 12 points and had four rebounds. Adam Schleper contributed seven assists and had four steals.
Reserves saw plenty of action as well. Arick Neisen had six points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Zach Muckenhirn had five points and five steals. Seth Norling, Seth MacLeod and Matt Kreklow also got in the scorebook.
Delano is home to Big Lake, 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 and home to neighbor Rockford, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11.
