Upon arrival Officer Heupel observed a single vehicle was lying on its roof next to a power pole on the south side of Highway 12 and facing roughly southeast. The power pole was broken; a wire was hitting against a tree and smoking with small sparks.

Driver Mark Alan Lynch, 61, and passenger Luann Marie Sing-lynch, 58, both from Mound were trapped in the vehicle. Maple Plain Fire Rescue was notified that extrication was needed for both victims in the vehicle.

Lynch and Sing-Lynch had minor injuries with small cuts and complained of a stiff neck. They were transported by Ridgeview Ambulance to Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

“Seatbelts played a major role in this crash. The driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts which aided in protecting the occupants from being ejected,” said Director Ray McCoy of the West Hennepin Public Safety Department.

Preliminary investigation shows icy roads contributed to this crash. The westbound lane of Highway 12 was shut down for approximately one hour.

Several agencies responded to the crash including Officers from Medina, Minnetrista and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
