Stay warm in December at the Maple Grove Library

Several events will be featured in December at the Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main St. N. These events include author talks, artists, stories, Friends meeting and more.

The following are December events:

“Author Talk: Lorna Landvik,” Monday, Dec. 3, at 6:30 p.m. — Join Landvik, bestselling author of nine novels, as she talks about the creative process, inspiration and the changing world of publishing. Her fun, new novel is “Mayor of the Universe.” Books will be available for purchase and signing. This event is sponsored by Friends of the Maple Grove Library.

“Paint It Green: Spirits of the Arctic Circle,” Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 7 to 8 p.m. — For kindergarten through grade six. The Yup’ik people of Western Alaska make masks that represent the spirits of mammals, fish, birds, insects, plants, ice and everyday objects. Create a modern version of this traditional mask representing your favorite animal of the Arctic. Materials provided.  This project is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Presented in collaboration with ArtStart.

“Teen Anime Club,” Saturday, Dec. 15, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. — For teens. Can’t get enough anime? Join up to watch and review brand-new anime episodes, share artwork and hang out with other anime fans. Sponsored by Friends of the Maple Grove Library.

“Winter and Snow Stories,” Thursday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. — For families. Share favorite children’s winter and snow stories.

“Friends Meeting,” Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. — Join fellow library enthusiasts to hear what’s happening at Hennepin County Library. Help support the library by planning and volunteering at book sales, programs, and special events. The Friends look forward to meeting participants. General membership meeting.
