53 Maple Grove businesses pass alcohol compliance checks

Recent results from the Maple Grove Police Department’s alcohol compliance check conducted in Maple Grove show that approximately 93 percent of alcohol retailers refused the sale of alcohol to someone under the age of 21.

Out of 57 checks completed, 53 retailers passed. Checks were conducted with both on-sale and off-sale establishments around Oct. 18.

The businesses that failed the compliance checks have been referred to the Maple Grove City Council for a decision on monetary civil penalties and/or license suspension.

Maple Grove Police conducted the compliance checks with funding from Invitation Health Institute through the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
