Pirates take 4th in state CI adapted soccer

The Park Center Pirates suffered their first two losses of the season at last Saturday’s state CI adapted soccer tournament in Stillwater and settled for fourth place.

Senior Augie Wodrich scored five goals and sophomore Kevin Hofer added three goals to lead the top-seeded Pirates to a 14-5 victory over Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee in the opening round Friday. It was the Pirates’ 12th straight win of the season.

However, that streak came to an end in a 4-1 semifinal loss to second seed and eventual champion Dakota United. Wodrich scored the lone goal and seventh-grader Megan Thompson made nine saves in net for the Pirates.

Wodrich scored seven goals but they were not enough as the Pirates lost to Burnsville 13-11 in the third-place game. Hofer scored three times, Aaron Clark added a goal, and Thompson stopped 28 shots for the Pirates to keep the game close.

The Pirates finished the year with a 12-2 record.
