North Shore Gym Club sends more to state meet

The second state gymnastics club qualifier meet of the season was Nov. 3 and 4 at the North Shore Gymnastics Club in Maple Plain.

Five more of the North Shore Level 5 and 6 gymnasts earned the opportunity to compete in the state competition in December. To compete at state a gymnast must earn an all-around score of 32.00 or higher.

Those earning that distinction were Maya Loven, Jordan Janisch, Hannah Bortnem and Geneva from the Level 5 team and Bella Burke from Level 6.

Other weekend highlights included a first place finish for North Shore’s Level 5 team with an all-around score of 107.475.

Top scorers in the 7-9 age group were Olivia Jahnke (35.30 in all-around) and Makenna Rasmussen (35.275).

Top ranked individual event performances in this group were turned in by Rasmussen (9.25 on vault) and Loven (9.20 on beam and 9.225 in floor exercise).

In the age 10 group, Colette Mayhew earned a third place ranking with her all-around score of 34.05. Mayhew also was first on beam (9.075).

Katherine Busch finished in the top 10 in the age 10 group with her all-around score of 30.75.

In the age 11+ group, Samantha Poeschl earned a second place ranking in all-around (34.70) and first place on floor (9.10).

Also finishing in the top 10 for this group were Hadley Juran (34.375 in all-around) and Janisch with (32.375 in all-around). Janisch also had the top beam score of 9.05 for the 11+ age group.

North Shore’s Level 6 squad finished their session ranked fourth with a combined all-around score of 108.55.

In the 7-10 age group, Sara Murley placed ninth in the all-around at 34.825. In the age 11 group, it was Burke who finished with first place rankings on the bar (8.80) and on floor (9.275). Burke was third in the all-around at 35.30.

In the age 12+ group three North Shore gymnasts finished in the top 10. Abigail Ylitalo was fourth in the all-around at 35.625. Taylor Burnham was eighth (35.125) and Nicole Albertson took ninth (35.075). Burnham had the top vault score of 9.50.

North Shore’s gymnasts are preparing for the third state qualifier meet Nov. 17 and 18 at the Flyaways Gym in Forest Lake.
