WHPS responds to personal injury crash in Independence

The West Hennepin Public Safety Department responded to a crash at 2:42 p.m. on Friday afternoon Oct. 26, according to Sergeant Gary Kroells.

The crash occurred at the intersection of County Road 92 and Highway 12 in the city of Independence.

Officers found two cars were involved. Due to the debris in the roadway, Highway 12 was closed for approximately a half hour.

Motorist Denise Elser, 45, from Delano was traveling westbound on Highway 12 when Amy Ogram, 49, from Maple Lake attempted to turn eastbound on Highway 12 from southbound County Road 92. Ogram pulled out in front of Elser, striking her vehicle. Ogram had failed to yield right of way.

Motorists Elser and Ogram had minor neck pain, both refused transportation to the hospital.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

West Hennepin Public Safety was assisted at the scene by Delano Fire & Rescue, Maple Plain Fire Rescue, North Memorial Ambulance and police officers from Medina Police Department.

Sergeant Gary Kroells said, β€œIt was apparent that Ogram failed to yield the right-of-way and caused the crash.”
